Super Reamers Developed by USAY Are Most Cost-Effective Available In the USA

The engineers of USAY, Inc. recently perfected the designs of high-performance coated carbide reamers which are production tested to be the most cost-effective reamers available.

These reamers have a Double or Triple Cutting (DC, TC) action which provides an initial cut, as standard reamers do, followed by a shaving action which sizes the hole and finishes the surface with values as low as 12 u-in Ra. This geometry also allows feed rates of 150 inches per minute on mild steel, which is over 5x faster than standard reamers. The fast feed rates and a special coating process provide a tool life which is about 2x better than normal.

Special grinders were built for the manufacture of these custom-ground reamers. Tolerances as fine as one u-m on the O.D. are possible and this fine accuracy also allows several anti-chatter details which eliminate out-of-round holes.

These custom-ground reamers feature a combination of high production output and very accurate hole sizes with a fine finish and a long tool life.
